I received my official approval to participate in the 2016 Cycling for Libraries "Unconference", booked my flight to Toronto, and created this website. But the most important preparation I've done so far is purchase these lovely padded cycling shorts. I anticipate that at 50 - 60 miles a day I will be glad I have them. Plus it makes me a more legit cyclist.
As you can see the tags are still on the shorts so I haven't tried them out yet. Summer weather arrived late in Arizona but still too soon for me to do any training outside. As much as I'd like to mimic what the actual experience will be like, my training will be confined to indoor cycling classes as it will be close to 110 degrees F for the majority of the summer.
I know the physical aspect of this experience is what will make it such a unique learning opportunity. I want to make sure I am mentally and physically prepared so I can learn all that I can from my Canadian colleagues as well as enjoy the ride. In other words, I better start breaking in these shorts.
